Module 1
Explore Student Thinking
Enter the first Pinehaven map and gather evidence from this module’s student cases.
Pinehaven Student Thinking Labs · Fall Term I 2026
Enter eight interactive modules built around authentic student thinking. In each module, you will visit Pinehaven schools, select a student, review the student’s work, and ask questions that reveal how the student reasoned.
The simulation gives you evidence. You will identify the misconception, correct the mathematics, and plan your instructional response outside the simulation.
How each module works
Travel to the elementary, middle, or high school and select one student case.
Review the original problem, written work, visual model, and the student’s initial explanation.
Select neutral questions and use the student’s responses as evidence for your separate analysis.
Eight module experiences
Each module contains a new set of mathematics topics and student misconceptions across the three Pinehaven schools.

Module 1
Enter the first Pinehaven map and gather evidence from this module’s student cases.

Module 2
Meet a new group of students and investigate the reasoning behind their mathematical work.

Module 3
Review new problems, representations, and explanations across the Pinehaven schools.

Module 4
Use student work and conversation evidence to uncover how each learner is reasoning.

Module 5
Move through a new set of school-based cases without receiving the diagnosis or correction.

Module 6
Ask neutral questions that reveal the ideas guiding each student’s mathematical choices.

Module 7
Collect evidence from written work, visual models, and student explanations.

Module 8
Complete the final Pinehaven investigation and carry the evidence into your analysis.
